Keiya Wada | 3rd Prize | Strings | 9th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Keiya, 16, is a junior attending Aragon High School and studies with Jonathan Koh. He started playing the cello at the age of 11 at his middle school’s orchestra and eventually joined the Peninsula Youth Orchestra. He became the assistant principal of the Golden State Youth Orchestra and was the honorable mention of the Golden State Youth Orchestra concerto competition. Keiya has also won the Talented Young Musician Olympia, US International Open Music Competition, and the Charleston International Competition. He was invited to perform at the Junior Bach Festival, and he was also invited to the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Summer Camp. He participated in the Cest’Bon Summer camp in the summer of 2022, and the Montecito Music International in the summer of 2023 where he had a masterclass with Ron Leonard. Keiya was selected to be the Youth Cultural Ambassador of San Mateo County in which he represents the entire county and implements projects to represent music culture in San Mateo County. He will be a part of the San Francisco Youth Orchestra this year.
