Bella Chen, age 12, is a student of Erna Gulabyan in northern California. Bella has participated and won awards in the Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition, MTAC Piano Concerto Competition, CAPMT Piano Concerto Competition, Enkor International Music Competition, Charleston International Music Competition, Elevato Stanza Junior Piano Competition, Bellagrande International Competition, and Junior Bach Festival. Some of her favorite composers include Schubert, Chopin, and Mendelssohn. As you can see, Bella is a romantic at heart.
Although piano is Bella’s first love, she also enjoys singing with her girls choir and performing in school musicals. Another area in which Bella loves and excels is mathematics. She loves competing and solving complex mathematical puzzles. When she is not performing or composing at the piano, then she can be found singing or working out math solutions with enthusiasm.
Bella is a bright, sweet, and witty individual who enjoys learning about important historical dates that coincide with her music pieces.
