Hanz Baek, a freshman at The Harker School (class of 2027), is an accomplished violinist who began his musical journey at the age of 7 under the guidance of Byung Woo Kim. Over the years, Hanz has earned numerous accolades, including first place in the 2024 American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition and the American Fine Arts Festival International Concert Competition. These achievements led to performances at Carnegie Weill Hall in March and June 2024. He also won the North California Young Talents 2024 Music Competition. In 2023, Hanz was named the California State winner in the OPUS Music Competition and was selected to perform with the Junior High California All-State Orchestra. His outstanding performances at the Junior Bach Festival and the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) State Solo and Ensemble Festival earned him a Command Performance Award. Hanz's earlier accomplishments in 2022 include first place in the San Francisco International Music Innovation Competition (SFIMIC) and Superior ratings at the Virtual Spring Music Festival and the Virtual Solo Festival held by CMEA. He also won the California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (CPYO) concerto competition.
