Hello, my name is Minji Kim, and I am a junior attending Asia Pacific International School in Seoul, South Korea. Music has been a significant cornerstone in my life ever since I first started playing the cello ten years ago. Despite some ups and downs in my musical journey, my passion and commitment for music has led me to study music more intensively, participate in various youth ensembles, and also help others throughout their musical journey through mentoring. My favorite memories as a cellist, however, come from the contributions I have made as a member of the Korean Youth Honor Orchestra, a chamber youth ensemble that rehearses to perform in front of different minority groups across the nation. As a team, we have visited orphanages, care homes for the elderly and disabled, countryside hospitals, and homeless shelters to share the love and joy that music can bring. Even during times where practice may become monotonous, observing the smiles and laughter brought out by music alone always refuels my motivation and zeal for the cello. To me, playing my cello is synonymous to connecting with the hearts and minds of my audience.
