Amy Yaqing Hu is a sixteen-year-old pianist and a student at Skyline High School. She has received numerous awards in piano competitions, including Third Place in the 2024 Summer Arts Competition, Third Place in the 2024 Helen Taylor Johannesen International Piano Competition, an Honorable Mention in the 2024 MTNA Competition, First Place in Charleston’s 2025 New Year’s Competition, First Place in Charleston’s 2025 International Piano Competition, multiple First Place awards at the Salt Lake Piano Competition, an Honorable Mention in the 2025 MTNA Competition, and First Place in the 2025–2026 American Protégé Competition.
Amy began studying piano at the age of six and has continued to develop her artistry through consistent practice, performance, and competition. In addition to her musical achievements, she has served as a teacher’s assistant with the Mundi Project, a community service organization that provides music education opportunities for children. Over five seasons with the program, she supported young students’ learning and helped foster their enthusiasm for music, earning appreciation from both students and teachers.
Piano is one of many activities Amy enjoys. She also plays the clarinet and participates in tennis, debate, and swimming.
