Chi-Anne Chen | Second Prize | Piano | 13th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

Chi Anne Chen is a young pianist currently in eighth grade. She began her piano studies at the age of six. At the age of nine, she was admitted to the Pre-College Division of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she currently studies with Chia-Lin Yang. She also studies chamber music, theory, and composition.

As a pianist, Chi Anne has earned recognition in national competitions. She is a prizewinner of the 2024 Charleston International 19th Century Music Competition, the Northern California Young Talents Competition, and the 6th WPTA Finland International Piano Competition. Her achievements have led to multiple distinguished performance opportunities, including three appearances at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Beyond solo piano, Chi Anne is deeply engaged in collaborative music-making and has developed extensive chamber music experience. She has performed in a wide range of ensemble settings, including piano four-hand, eight-hand ensemble, two-piano repertoire, and piano trio. Notably, through YAF Chamber Music, she and her ensemble prepared and performed all four movements of Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 2 in C minor, Op. 66 within the span of a single month, demonstrating remarkable musical maturity, ensemble sensitivity, and dedication. She also accompanied her siblings in their violin and cello performances.

In addition to piano, Chi Anne has studied violin for five years under the guidance of Po Wei Lai. Her orchestral leadership and musicianship have earned her the position of concertmaster in the Preparatory Division of the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra. She also performs as a first violinist in BAYSM and will participate in a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York this June.

With a strong foundation in both piano and violin, Chi Anne combines technical accomplishment with artistic versatility. Her broad musical experiences in solo performance, chamber music, orchestral leadership, and accompaniment reflect both her dedication to music and her collaborative spirit as a young artist.
