Claire Shu, 17, is a junior at Davis Senior High School in California and a dedicated violinist. She studies violin with Elbert Tsai.
Claire has earned top honors in several competitions, including the Grand Prize at the Auburn Symphony Young Artists Competition, First Prize at the Solano Symphony Young Artist Competition, and First Prize at the Folsom Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition. She appeared as a soloist with the Solano Symphony Orchestra, performing the first movement of Saint-Saëns' Violin Concerto No. 3, and will perform as a soloist with the Auburn Symphony Orchestra in January 2027.
Claire serves as Concertmaster of the Sacramento Youth Symphony’s premier orchestra. As an active orchestral musician, she performs regularly with the Sacramento Youth Symphony and will tour Europe with the orchestra in the summer of 2026. She is also a dedicated chamber musician and participates in the Rising Stars Chamber Music Program.
Beyond music, Claire enjoys reading and playing tennis.
