Ella (Hyoju) Lee | Third Prize | Violin | 13th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

Ella (Hyoju) Lee is a 15-year-old violinist from Seattle, Washington. She currently studies under Patrick Galvin in the Coleman Violin Studio. Despite starting the violin at the age of 12, she soon learned to enjoy overcoming musical challenges and enduring immense practice hours.

She has distinguished herself in various competitions, winning First Place in the OPUS Music Competition, Second Prize in the Royal Maas International Competition, Second Prize in the Bellagrande International Music Competition, First Prize in Vivaldi International Competition, Gold Prize in the Bellevue Symphony Concerto Competition, and 1st place in PAFE. Additionally, Ella is a part of the first violins in the Evergreen Philharmonic and was previously the concertmaster of Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra. As a new but avid chamber musician, Ella and her Shostakovich Piano Quintet group, representing the Seattle Chamber Music Society, have distinguished themselves as the 2026 Grand Prix winner of the Russian Chamber Music Competition. She was grateful to have received masterclasses from Professor Kathleen Winkler and Ani Kavafian. In the Seattle Chamber Music Society, Ella has received coaching from renowned musicians such as Marta Lambert, Nathan Chan, Mark Salman, and Benjamin Zannoni.

This summer, Ella plans to attend Center Stage Strings, studying under Fabiola Kim and Sheryl Staples.

In a senior living center by her house, she volunteers with musical performances, utilizing music as a universal language to communicate with individuals of various cultural backgrounds.

Aside from violin playing, Ella loves being immersed in good books and movies.
