Emma Wang, a sophomore at The Harker School in San Jose, California, currently studies piano with Sandra Wright Shen, Piano Chair at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College Division. Emma began studying piano at the age of four with Shu-ju Black.
Emma has received numerous honors, including First Prizes at the Paris Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition, Berlin Classical Music Competition, US Open Music Competition (Outstanding Gold Medalist in Showcase Piano Solo and Senior Classical Group), San Francisco International Piano Competition, and the USIMC Young Artist Competition, among others. She was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2022. In 2026, Emma received the California MTAC Panel Honor Award.
Beyond performance, Emma uses music as a platform to advocate for environmental protection. She has organized fundraising concerts to support the preservation of U.S. National Parks and has collaborated with local animal shelters and a wildlife refuge in Costa Rica to raise awareness about wildlife conservation. Emma is also deeply committed to community service. She volunteers as a youth soccer coach for children from low-income families and teaches percussion to children with special needs, sharing her time and talents to inspire and empower others. An active member of her school orchestra, Emma performs as a cellist.
In addition to music, she enjoys traveling, drawing, running, and playing soccer.
