Kara is a ninth-grade student from Folsom. She began studying piano at the age of four with her mother and currently studies with Dr. Natsuki Fukasawa. Kara gave her first solo recital at the age of nine and has since received awards in numerous competitions. She has won First Prize at the CAPMT Honors State Competition Finals, the US Open Music Competition, the US New Star Music Competition, the Franz Liszt Center International Piano Competition, and many others. She is also a recipient of the MTAC Memorial Scholarship.
She has worked with distinguished pianists, including Wael Farouk, Sean Kennard, Jon Nakamatsu, Sandra Wright Shen, Alexander Shtarkman, and Steven Spooner. In addition to solo work, Kara is also an avid chamber musician and continues to perform in Rising Stars of Chamber Music under the direction of Susan Lamb Cook.
