Kyle Zhu (14) currently studies with Dr. Julia Lam in New Jersey. He began playing the piano at the age of five.
Kyle has won top prizes in various music competitions, including First Prize in the Eleventh Camerata Artists International Competition (Solo Performance Category), First Prize in the 2024 NJMTA Young Musician Competition (Solo Category), and First Prize in the MEA Annual Piano Competition (2020, 2021, 2023, 2024). He also earned a Gold Prize in the 2023 VIVO International Music Competition, a Grand Prize in the 4th APEX International Music Competition, and First Prizes in the 2022 and 2023 NJMTA Young Musician Competition (Duet Category). In addition, Kyle won First Prize in his age group in the XVI Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, CT.
Kyle has participated in Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music Summer Piano Academy. Through his piano journey, he has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, and the DiMenna Center. He has also participated in numerous masterclasses with accomplished pianists, including Kate Liu and Victor Rosenbaum.
Outside of piano, Kyle enjoys playing the alto saxophone, reading, carpentry, playing the bassoon, and working on his 3D printers.
