Max Zhang is an accomplished young pianist based in Potomac, Maryland, currently a freshman at Winston Churchill High School. Max began his piano studies with Nancy O’Neill Breth, under whose guidance his interest and dedication quickly became evident.
Max made his solo orchestral debut performing with the McLean Symphony. Since then, he has earned numerous top honors in prestigious state and national competitions. His awards include First Prizes at the NVMTA Robert Spencer Concerto Piano Competition (2026), the Piano Achievement Awards (2025), the Northern District Auditions, and the Gertrude Brown Concerto Competition (2025, Senior Division), each recognizing both his technical command and refined musicality.
Among his notable distinctions, Max was a finalist in the Knabe International Piano Competition, a highly competitive event that attracts talented pianists from around the world. He has also been a prizewinner at OPUS Nationals for two consecutive years (2024 & 2025), and has performed in various venues, including Daniel Linehan Hall, as well as in numerous churches.
