Melody Huang | Second Prize | Piano | 13th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 



Melody Huang, aged 11, began studying piano at the age of five and is currently under the tutelage of Dr. Tamara Smolyar.

At the age of 10, Melody was awarded the AMEB Licentiate Diploma (LMusA) in Piano. Earlier, at the age of 8, she achieved High Distinctions in both the AMEB Certificate of Performance and the Con Brio Performance Diploma.

Melody has already established herself as a confident young performer. At the age of 10, she presented a highly successful solo recital at St Paul’s Cathedral, and she is scheduled to give further recitals there and at the Diamond Creek Concert Series this year. At the age of 8, she made her radio debut on 3MBS Melbourne 103.5 FM’s The Talent Show, performing a live solo program as the youngest performer to appear on the program.

Melody enjoys performing and actively participates in music festivals and competitions. Over the past five years, she has won more than 35 First Prizes across a wide range of competitions and age groups. She was also awarded Second Place in the 2025 9th Scherzo International Piano Competition (Tel Aviv, Category B) and Second Place in the 2022 Melbourne International Piano and String Festival Competition (8 years and under group).

In addition to these achievements, Melody has received several special awards. Notably, at the 2023 Ringwood Eisteddfod, she was awarded the prestigious Sadie Brown Memorial Award, presented to a single pianist selected from hundreds of competitors of all ages in recognition of outstanding musicianship and talent.

Beyond her solo work, Melody serves as a Music Leader at her school. She is also the junior school chamber music pianist and the principal viola player in the school orchestra.

Outside of music, Melody enjoys mathematics, reading, running, and cooking.
