Roshni Balajee is a 16-year-old pianist living in San Ramon, CA, and a junior at Dougherty Valley High School. She studies in the Pre-College Division of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and currently studies with Amy Zanrosso. She previously studied piano with Julia Kim.
She has won prizes in multiple competitions, including First Prize in the United States International Music Competition, the American Virtuoso International Music Competition, the US New Star Piano Competition (Competition by Composer), the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition, the VIVO International Music Competition, and the International Grande Music Competition. She has also received prizes at the Great Composers Competition, the Henry and Carol Zeiter Piano Competition, the CAPMT Contemporary Competition, the CAPMT Honors Competition, the International New Star Piano Competition, the Pacific International Piano Competition, the WPTA Finland International Competition, the Young Soloist International Music Competition, the New York International Classical Music Competition, and the Bellagrande International Music Competition. She has also participated in the Junior Bach Festival.
Roshni has performed in several recitals and masterclasses at SFCM, as well as at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York. She has been selected to participate in programs such as the Peabody Conservatory Summer Program, the Southeastern Piano Festival, and Bay PianoFest. She has received masterclasses and lessons with pianists Chad Bowles, Alexander Shtarkman, Dr. Hyun-Sook Park, Albert Cano Smit, Sandra Wright Shen, Melinda Lee Masur, Li-Shan Hung, and Victor Rosenbaum.
She also enjoys chamber music and composition. Outside of music, she enjoys math, economics, and drinking tea.
