Sixteen-year-old violinist Zavier Chen is a sophomore at the Harker Upper School in San Jose, California. He began his musical journey studying piano at the age of five and later started learning violin at the age of seven with Theresa Woo. He has been studying under Dr. Pasha Sabouri since 2022. He is a two-time VOCE Special Venue Music Award winner, was chosen to perform at the Junior Bach Festival concert, and has won multiple categories of the USOMC in piano. He has participated in masterclasses with violinists such as Mimi Zweig, Mark Kaplan, and Nancy Zhou, and has also received guidance from Richard Lin.
He has attended the Texas Strings Festival and the Summer String Academy at Indiana University, as well as participating in Cal Music Prep (2022–2024) and CYS (California Youth Symphony) (2023–2025). He has also been a member of the Harker Orchestra since sixth grade.
During his free time, he enjoys watching movies and playing golf with his friends.
