12-year-old cellist, William Tan, is a student of Hans Jorgen Jensen. Other influential teachers include Sooka Wang, Mindy Park and Sally Gross. At age 7, he made his solo debut at the Suzuki Association of America’s 40th Anniversary Kaleidoscope Concert in Minneapolis and made an archival recording for them. Since, he has been a multiple division winner of the Society of American Musicians and Music Festival in Honor of Confucius competitions. William is currently a member of touring cello ensemble, Cellisimo. He enjoys chamber music and attended Music@Menlo’s Young Performers Program this past summer. Numerous other interests include piano, travel soccer and chess.
