Christina Danford | 3rd Prize | Piano 2017 | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Christina Danford is a 13 year old 8th grader who began studying piano at age 5. Currently she is a student of Dr. Theresa Sanchez. Christina has been a Gold Medalist for the past four consecutive years at the Mississippi Music Teacher's Association (MMTA) Pre-College Finals Piano Competition, and in 2017 also received the Overall Highest Composite Score Award. She received 3rd place at the Fall Pre-college Piano Concerto Competition held by MMTA in 2014 and 2015. Christina has performed in piano masterclasses for Thomas Schumacher, Professor Emeritus of Piano at Eastman School of Music, and also for Dr. Julia Mortyakova, Department Chair at the Mississippi University for Women.

Christina Danford has also studied violin for 8 years and has been a student of Dr. Stephen Redfield at the University of Southern Mississippi since 2012. She performed at Carnegie Hall in June 2016 as one of 4 solo violinists with the Honors Junior Orchestra for the 2016 Middle School Honors Performance Series. Christina was also a member of the Festival South Orchestra in June 2017 and the Southern Mississippi Youth Orchestra in 2013. Christina won a Gold Medal for her violin performance at the 2014 and 2017 MMTA Pre-College violin Finals where she also received the Highest Composite Score Award both years.

Christina is also a highly ranked junior tennis player who enjoys competing in tennis tournaments.
