Joanne Kim | 3rd Prize | Piano 2017 | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Joanne Kim began piano studies at age 8 in her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. She is a prizewinner of several state and regional piano competitions, including the Alabama Symphony Lois Pickard Concerto Competition, Music Teachers National Association state competition, the Alabama Federation of Music Clubs Competition, AMTA solo and concerto auditions, among others. In the summer of 2016, she studied piano at the Brevard Music Center Institute. Joanne also plays the violin and is currently assistant concertmaster of the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra. She formerly served as assistant concertmaster of the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra, and played annually in the AL All-State Festival Orchestra since age 10. Joanne also enjoys teaching music and is a former piano and violin instructor of the Scrollworks Youth Music School in Birmingham.
A rising junior at the University of Notre Dame double majoring in Neuroscience & Behavior and Piano Performance, Joanne studies piano under Dr. John Blacklow, and continues to perform solo and chamber piano works in various solo and collaborative concerts and masterclasses with guest artists.
