Kevin Xu | 3rd Prize | Piano 2017 | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Kevin Xu is a ninth grader at Green Hope High School in Cary, NC. Since coming under the tutelage of Florence Ko at age eight, Kevin has made tremendous strides in his performance skills. After being named the Peter Perret Youth Talent Search Concerto Winner in 2012, Kevin made his solo debut with Winston Salem Symphony. In past four years, Kevin won first-prize awards in various competitions, including NC Federation of Music Royalty Competition; Maxine Taylor Fountain Scholarship NC State Competition; Raleigh Music Club Paderewski Piano Competition; F.T.Nakari competition and Lyric Style Best Performance. Per an invitation by The Raleigh Chamber Music Guild, Kevin Xu was performed solo in the Piano Student Performance held at the Fletcher Opera Theater, Duke Energy Performing Arts Center, on March 9th, 2014. He was accepted for Philadelphia Young Pianists’ Academy piano camp at Curtis in 2015; He placed first for both the 2014 and 2015 MTNA Competition at the state level, and received second place in the southeast regional division in 2015 and first prize winner in the American Protégé competition for the junior category in 2017.
