Sophia Suwiryo | 1st Prize | Piano 2017 | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

Sophia Suwiryo, age 8, began playing piano at the age of four. She is in second grade at St. Mary School Hyde Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. She studies piano at the Suzuki Piano Program in the Preparatory Department of University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music with Dr. Takako Hayase Frautschi.

At her young age, Sophia has won several piano competitions, awards and scholarship. She also has performed three times at Carnegie Hall in New York. She holds the following awards and prizes:

• 2015-2016 Gino DiMario Scholarship - Preparatory Department of University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music

She also participated in many piano performances and community services such as performing piano at the retirement communities, the Dragonfly Foundation Fundraising, Macy’s Arts Sampler 2015 at Cincinnati Taft Museum of Art, and Asian Culture Festival at Cincinnati Museum Center. Besides music, Sophia enjoys playing chess and has competed in several chess tournaments.
