Victor Shlyakhtenko, 15, has been studying piano at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, CA under the direction of Teresa de Jong Pombo since the age of five. His most recent honors include winning the Spotlight competition organized by the Music Center in Los Angeles, the 1st place and a Special Prize for the best performance of a piece from ¬¬Années de Pèlerinage in the 2016 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, 1st places in the 2016 California MTNA-Kawai Junior Piano Competition, the 2016 California MTNA-Morty Iris Manus Junior Composition Competition and the 2017 Robert Turner Piano Concerto competition. Victor has appeared as a soloist with the Orange County Symphony, the LA Doctors Symphony, the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, the Huntington Beach Symphony Orchestra and the Colburn Youth Orchestra and Colburn Concert Choir, performing concerti by Mendelssohn, Chopin, Grieg and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy. Victor is a recipient of the Chopin Foundation Scholarship and the Merit Scholarship at the Colburn School.
