Having originally formed in 2015, the Trinity Grammar School's Clarinet Trio consisting of Andrew Kim, Daniel Chu and Michael Lin have performed and worked together for three whole years, completing three works. Their first work was Beethoven’s Clarinet Trio (Opus 11), successfully winning their first Eisteddfod in the “Under 19s School Chamber Music” section. The following year, 2016, garnered them a consecutive win in the eisteddfod, having worked on Brahms’ Clarinet Trio (Opus 114) with critical acclaim. Subsequently in this year, they have diligently prepared Zemlinsky’s Clarinet Trio (Opus 3), a lesser known composer and piece however, the trio has certainly taken a vibrant and personal interpretation of the work. They placed 3rd in the same competition this year, and over the three years, each member has grown in musical maturity both in their interpretation of music and understanding of each other in performance. Additionally, they have been invited to play at various school functions and by Musica Viva Australia, have been offered special opportunities for concerts and master classes. With the unique combination of piano, cello and clarinet, the clarinet trio has developed and brought music to many and their enjoyment.
