13-year-old cellist, William Tan, is a student of Hans Jorgen Jensen. Other influential teachers include Sooka Wang and Sally Gross. William has been a winner or earned recognition in numerous competitions including the Society of American Musicians Competition, Music Festival in Honor of Confucius Competition, Walgreens National Concerto Competition and Depaul Concerto Festival for Young Performers. He enjoys chamber music and has attended Music@Menlo's Young Performers Program. William is also a member of cello touring ensemble, Cellissimo. This past summer, he attended the Meadowmount School of Music summer program. Other interests include piano, chess, soccer and reading.
