Kyle is 10 years old and a fourth grader from Irvine, California. He began his music study at the age of 4 at Yamaha Music Center. Since the age of 5, Kyle has won numerous piano competitions. He was the first-place winner at the Southwestern Youth Music Festival piano competition for three consecutive years (2013 to 2015), and in 2017, he won first place in both piano and violin categories. In 2015, Kyle won first prize at the Stravinsky Awards Bach International Piano Competition in Division B for age 12 and under. In the same year, he received a silver medal at the Southern California Junior Bach Festival. At age 7, he won first place at the CAPMT VIII Young Musicians Concerto Competition and performed a Haydn Piano Concerto with the Community Youth Orchestra of Southern California. In 2017, Kyle was invited to perform Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Costa Rica Piano Festival Symphony Orchestra. In the same year, he won first prize at the American Fine Arts Festival and performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York. In December 2017, he performed in Rome, Italy, as the first prize winner of the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition. He also won first prize at the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition and received gold medals in both solo and chamber music categories at the AADGT International Young Gifted Musicians Festival and performed his winning pieces at the Carnegie Hall in March, 2018. In 2018, Kyle won first prize at the Glendale Piano Competition and was awarded first prize at the Great Composers Competition for the Best Mozart Performance series.
Besides playing the piano, Kyle also likes to compose. He started composing when he was 5 years old. His first composition, Toy Maker, won first place at the 2014 Music Teachers Association of California Composers Today competition. At age 6, Kyle was the youngest composer selected to perform at the Yamaha US National Junior Original Concert in Arizona’s Mesa Performing Arts Center. In June 2018, Kyle will be performing his second composition, The Matador, at the Yamaha US National Junior Original Concert in California. In his spare time, Kyle likes playing the violin, composing music, and riding his bike. But his favorite activity is playing iPad with his brother.
