Colby Chai, 15, is a sophomore at Washington High School. He currently studies piano under Dr. Jed Galant. He has previously studied under Frances Martin, Lisa Hu, and Dr. Katherine Lee. He has won a number of awards, including Double Grand Award at 2015 Youth Focus Competition, 2nd place at 2016 US Open Showcase Solo, Honorable Mention at 2017 East Bay Music Festival, and had also been invited to perform at the MTAC honors recital for the past two years. As a winner of American Fine Arts Festival, she first made her piano debut at 10 in Carnegie Hall in 2013. In the summer of 2017, she returned again to Carnegie Hall as a prize winner to perform on the violin. Over the years, she has won multiple prizes in US Open Music Competitions and has been a three-time prize winner of San Mateo County Music Festival competitions.
