Devin Chang | 2nd Prize | Piano | 6th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Devin Chang is a sophomore at C. K. McClatchy High School and plays piano and viola, along with composing and improvising. Since 2012, Devin has studied piano with Dr. Natsuki Fukasawa and composition with Prof. Richard Cionco and Ryan Suleiman. Devin has attended Summer Music West composition program at San Francisco Conservatory of Music four times since 2012. As a winner of Concerto Competitions with Central Valley Youth Symphony and Sacramento Youth Symphony, Devin played Warsaw Concerto and Grieg Piano Concerto, 1st movement for their concerts. Among numerous prizes, Devin has won 3 awards for performing in the MTAC Improvisation Honors Recital, and 2 awards for performing his own compositions in the Sacramento State University's Festival of New American Music. From Great Composers International Music Competition, Devin received 3 diplomas as first prize winner and 2 as second prize winner. Devin wrote a cadenza for Mozart Piano Concert No. 21 (1st movement) upon a pianist's request, which was performed at the US Open Music Competition.

As a routine, Devin goes along with his fellow members of an organization called "Lifting Spirit with Music" to senior facilities doing volumteer performances. Devin is a member of the Sacramento Youth Symphony Premier Orchestra viola section. Aside from music, Devin also enjoys swimming, doing math competitions and designing video games.
