Charis Liu | 3rd Prize | Piano | 7th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Charis Liu started studying piano at the age of five with Malgosia Lis at the Hartt School Community Division in West Hartford, CT up until the age of 14. Throughout her years at Hartt, she placed in several prestigious competitions such as the state RenĂ©e B. Fisher Competition for Young Pianists in New Haven, CT and the regional Young Pianists Competition at the University of Rhode Island. She was also selected to preform in the piano masterclass in the Biennial Suzuki Association of the Americas Conference in 2012, 2014, and 2016. In 2017, Charis moved to Moorestown, NJ and began studying piano under Chiu Tze Lin. She has won several state competitions since then, including the Young Musicians Competition of the New Jersey Music Teachers Association and winning a performance at Carnegie Hall in 2018 through the Golden Key Music Festival. In addition to her accomplishments in piano, Charis is a violist in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and Youth Chamber Orchestra at the Boyer College’s Center for Gifted Young Musicians at Temple University. Outside of music, Charis is very involved in community service at her high school and church and received the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2019. Charis is currently a junior at Moorestown High School and is looking forward to interning this summer in Philadelphia and becoming a varsity captain on her school’s tennis team.
