Elliott Kim, 15, is a sophomore at Archbishop Mitty High School. He began cello studies at age 7 under the tutelage of Mrs. Kyeong Hwa Kim. He was the winner of the 2019 US International Music Competition and 2020 & 2017 KAMSA(Korean American Music Supporters’ Association) competition. He was additionally awarded 2nd place from the 2020 Burlingame Music Club competition, 2018 Pacific Musical Society Competition and 3rd place from the 2017 Korea Times Youth Music Competition. He had participated in the 2019 Junior Bach Festival and was selected to perform at the Junior Bach special concert as well.
He was also a two-time winner of the concerto competition of California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in 2017 & 2019 and made his solo debut at age twelve in 2017.
Elliott is also an avid chamber musician. He has been a member of Young Chamber Musicians led by Susan Bates since 2019, and his Bravi string quartet earned First Prize in the 2020 International Grand Music Competition, NY. His previous chamber group also received top prizes in 2017 and 2018 from the ensemble category of US International Music Competition, US Open Music Competition, and American Protage International Competition.
Elliott had opportunities to work with and perform in masterclasses for Amit Peled, Julia Culp, Jeffrey Zeigler, Itzhak Rashkovsky, the Telegraph quartet, and the Lee Trio. He attended Bowdoin International Music Festival in 2019 and participated in Amit Peled’s Online Cello Academy at CTM Classics last summer.
