David Kwon | 3rd Prize | Winds & Percussion | 7th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

After only playing in school band since the 4th grade, it has only been a little over a year since I have been under the tutelage of my clarinet instructor, Hongsik Park. In this one eventful year, I have been able to learn various wonderful pieces from a handful of great composers, which has allowed me to become more understanding of my pieces, expressive in my playing, and have a tremendous improvement in overall musicianship. Exterior to my individual training, I have participated in the 2020 California All State Music Education Conference, Ventura County Honor Band, won First Place in the 6th Edition of The Great Composers Competition of Europe (The Music of Mediterranean Europe), and took part in a chamber ensemble group to perform for the elderly in nursing homes to provide aural therapy. Other than clarinet, I also play piano and violin. I enjoy all three instruments equally, as they all provide me with the joy that comes from music.
