Rosie Wang | 2nd Prize | Winds & Percussion | 7th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Rosie is a junior at Adlai E Stevenson High School. Her most notable accomplishment on the flute is that she recently won 1st place at the 2019 Crain Maling Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artists competition which will enable her to solo with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Chicago Symphony Center. Having also performed as a soloist with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago at Symphony Center, the recording of the performance has been featured on 98.7 WFMT’s Introductions program. She has also been in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra’s top orchestra group since she was a freshman. She went on the 2019 Tour of the Baltics as the co-principal flutist of CYSO and played in concerts in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Russia. She has also had masterclasses with many renowned flutists, such as James Galway, Demarre Mcgill, Stefan Ragnar Hoskuldsson, Cathy Payne, Eugenia Moliner, Yukie Ota, and Jonathan Keeble. Outside of playing the flute, Rosie is the Co-Founder of a national nonprofit organization, Sharing The Stand, which aims to provide free online music lessons to students worldwide. She has also been directing a volunteering program at the Friendship Village Senior Center in Schaumburg, Illinois since 2018, where she organizes and hosts weekly instrumental music performances.
