Daniel Mies Nass | 3rd Prize | Piano | 8th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Daniel Mies Nass, age 17, a senior at Glenbrook South High School, Glenview, Illinois, completed early high school graduation requirements in January 2021. Daniel began studying piano at age 10, and currently studies piano under the guidance of Dr. Soo Young Lee at Music Institute of Chicago, and currently studies pre-college Music Theory with Dr. Matthew Hagle at Music Institute of Chicago.  Daniel is also a current student at the Midwest Young Artist Conservatory under the guidance of musicians Ms. Desirée Ruhstrat and Mr. David Cunliffe, studying since 2020.

Daniel’s accomplishments include being awarded First Prize in the 2021 Canadian International Music Competition; an upcoming solo recital on WFMT’s Introductions; Third Prize at the 2021 International Piano Star Competition; recipient of the 2020 NSMTA Music Scholarship – Senior Division Scholarship; Third Prize recipient of the 2020 Third Prize ISMTA NORTH Competition; participant in the 2020 Music Institute of Chicago Piano Duo Mini Festival; performer at the 2019 and 2020 Chicago Chamber Music Festivals; 2019 First Prize Grandquist Music Competition;  2019 Performer - Beethoven with a View Concert; 2020 Finalist - Bach with a View International Music Competition; numerous Gold Medals awarded from CAMTA and NSMTA Sonata-Sonatina Festivals; numerous private and public perform masterclasses completed including with pianist Frederick Moyer; participated in live-streamed masterclasses with Dr. Svetlana Belsky and pianist Giacomo Scinardo Tabernacolo; performed numerous community concerts sponsored by Music Institute of Chicago, including Merion Concert Series; and perform numerous chamber music programs organized by Music Institute of Chicago. Currently Daniel is in a Chópin Étude seminar with Mary Sauer through the New Music School.
