Derek Li (11 years old) began studying piano at the age of 5 with Mr. and Mrs. Eckstein and is currently studying with Teachers Ethan Dong and Yu-Hui Jen at Opus 119.
Derek has been an active competitor in numerous festivals, including the US New Star Etude Competition (2nd prize Group 1, 2015 and 2016; 1st prize Group 1, 2017), the Los Angeles Liszt International Competition, and multiple local events.
When he is not practicing, Derek enjoys reading and playing video games with his friends and is passionate about mathematics. His favorite composer is Chopin.
