Emily Qi | 2nd Prize | Piano | 8th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Emily Qi is an 11-year-old pianist from Seattle.  From a very early age, she showed a great interest in music.  At 6, she entered the class of the prominent Russian pedagogue Ekaterina Melkamini. Emily's unmatched love for piano won her many awards such as Gold medal in the Steinway Junior Piano Competition, Gold Medals in the Chopin Piano Competition, Bronze Medal in the San Jose International Piano Competition, Bronze Medal in the Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition, as well as Gold Medal in the Pacific International Piano Competition. Emily's talent and mature interpretations were recognized by Professor Irina Morozova (Mannes School of Music, NY), Professor Stanislav Ioudenitch (Oberlin Conservatory, OH), and world-famous pianist Behzod Abduraimov among others.  Currently, Emily is working on her program for her upcoming solo recital, which features the works of D. Scarlatti, N. Medtner, R. Schumann, and J. Rodrigo.  In January 2022, Emily will perform Mozart's Concerto No. 17 with the Bellevue Symphony Orchestra. For Emily, music is not simply a profession, but rather a mission she is ready to devote her life to.
