Austin Xie | 3rd Prize | Piano | 9th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Austin Xie, 18, from Wilton, Connecticut started learning piano when he was 8 years old with Svitlana Fiorito and later also studied with Galina Zisk Rothschild and Kalle Toivio. A first place winner of the 2020 American Protegé International Piano and Strings Competition and a prize winner in 2018 and 2019's Suzanne Cully Competition, the Schubert Club of Fairfield County's Chopin Competition, and the Musical Club of Hartford's High School Piano Competition, he has performed solo piano in venues including Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall, Sacred Heart University’s Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts and Chapel of the Holy Spirit, and UConn’s School of Fine Arts. When he was in Wilton High School, among other activities, he had also performed with his school's advanced and select choir in venues like Carnegie Hall and Radio City, participated in various performances with his school orchestra, and done numerous volunteer work with the Norwalk Symphony. He is currently a freshman at the University of Chicago and the secretary and member of the University of Chicago Glee Club, a low-voiced group composed of undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Chicago.
