Erin Yu | 2nd Prize | Piano | 9th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Erin is a senior conservatory honors fellow in her high school studying under Olya Katsman and previously under Jed Galant. She has appeared on Interlochen’s Public Radio and made her orchestral debut in Slovakia. She is a winner of YoungArts, a scholarship recipient from the National Chopin Foundation Scholarship Competition, and recently inducted into the Music Teacher’s Association of California’s Young Artist Guild. She won first place at the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) Honors Bay Area district competition, third in the State Finals, second alternate at the MTAC Solo Competition, first place at the United States international competition (USIMC), the Nafisa Taghioff Award recipient of the Fremont Symphony Concerto competition and the Young Prodigy winner in the Bay Area Music Association’s US International Open Music Competition. Over the summers, she has attended Boston University's Tanglewood Young Artist Piano Program, Interlochen Center of the Arts, Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts Invitation to Music Festival, Mozarteum International Academy, and Interharmony International Music Festival. Erin has had the honor to play in masterclasses for artists such as Emanuel Ax, Lydia Artymiw, and Peter Takacs. Erin is also the president of the Music Student’s Service League, a service group that organizes outreach recitals at senior centers in the Bay Area. She also founded her own initiative, Music Appreciation for Children, which hosts monthly concerts at the local library to introduce children to music and attracts 80+ attendees. Erin will attend Northwestern University this coming fall pursuing a dual degree in piano performance and chemistry.
