The AKELA String Quartet consists of Clara Glasdam and Gustav Ranum, violin, Kirsten Wilbrandt Kjær, viola and Oskar Reuben Friis-Hansen, cello and is a newly formed Danish string quartet based in Copenhagen, Denmark. All of the members are studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Music as a chamber group under Professor Tim Frederiksen - teacher and mentor of Danish String Quartet and many others.
AKELA was in 2020 selected to be ]part of the P2 Chamber Music Competition, and has since then developed and worked a lot as a quartet.
The members of AKELA are also permanent members in the Danish National Youth Ensemble, and have been so since 2016. Through this ensemble they have played with international stars, among others: Viktoria Mullova, Håkan Hardenberger, Boris Andrianov and Christoffer Sundqvist.
Additionally, the members have each participated in masterclasses with highly respected professors from all over the world, such as: Nikolaj Znaider, Gerhard Schulz, Milan Vitek, David Geber, Grigory Kalinovsky, Jennifer Stumm and many others.
