Leyuan Zhang | 2nd Prize | Strings | 8th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Leyuan (Eileen) Zhang, age 16, is a sophomore at Amador Valley High School. She currently studies with Brady Anderson in Pleasanton, California. She started playing the cello at age 10. 

She has won first prize in competitions including the Kings Peak International Music Competition, MTAC VOCE Alameda County, Silicon Valley Music Competition, United States International Open Music Competition, etc. In 2022, she was invited to perform in the Junior Bach Festival. She played in the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra, California All-State Symphony Orchestra 2022, and served as principal cellist in CODA Honor Orchestra 2021. She plays with her piano trio group weekly. 

She participated in the Vivace Cello Festival 2020, Boulder Cello Festival 2021, and Bowdoin International Music Festival 2022. She played in masterclasses for Natasha Brofsky, Rosemary Elliott, Yeesun Kim, David Requiro, etc. When not playing the cello, she likes to read and play with her dog.
