Steven Yoon | 2nd Prize | Strings | 8th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Steven Yoon is currently a freshman at Leland High School. He has been playing the cello since the age of 9 under the teachings of Kyeoung Hwa Kim. 

Steven has won numerous awards in music competitions, including the 1st place in American Fine Arts Festival Golden Era of Romantic Music Competition, 2nd place in American Protégé International Concerto Competition, and the Junior Bach Festival. Steven is a member of the California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra for the last 4 years, and currently serves as Principal cellist in the Associate Orchestra. In addition, Steven plays cello for the Leland High School Chamber Orchestra. 

 Apart from competing, Steven enjoys serving people through music. He is a member of AMASE, a student-founded non-profit organization that provides music and art education to individuals with special needs. He also volunteers for different organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank and Animal Assisted Happiness provides access to barnyard buddies so children and their family members can 'experience the smiles only animals can bring'.

Besides music, Steven enjoys playing sports, listening to music, building model cars and hanging out with friends.
