13-year-old Peter Parra is an 8th grader from Mountain View, California, and a pre-college student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied with Erna Gulabyan and currently studies with Professor Corey McVicar. Peter is a 2022-2024 Young Scholar of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation.
Peter started his piano journey at four and has won many top competition prizes. His recent achievements include the State Winner of 2023 California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) Honors Competition after winning the First in SF Bay Area District, 2nd Place in 2023 Music International Grand Prix, 1st Place in 2023 Elevato, and top prizes in ENKOR, Aloha, USOMC, Ross McKee Foundation, Pacific Music Society, and Marilyn Mindell Piano Competitions from 2022 to 2024. In 2023, Peter’s Elm Court concert was broadcasted by WQED-fm-89.3 Pittsburgh Classical Radio.
Peter studied at 2023 Cleveland Piano Institute and was accepted to the 2024 Frost Chopin Academy and Aspen Music Festival with merit scholarships. He has benefited from masterclasses with prominent musicians including Kevin Kenner, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Steven Spooner among others.
Growing up in a multi-cultural family, Peter loves Mariachi music which connects him with his Mexican heritage. Besides piano, Peter is a competitive junior ballroom dancer (ranked Top 10 in US) and a math Olympiad winner.
