James Xue is currently enrolled in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College division where he is a student of Dr. Vicky Wang. He previously studied with Brady Anderson
from 2018 to 2022. In July 2022, James attended the Solo Performance Preparation Program of Philadelphia International Music Festival under the guidance of Gloria DePasquale.
James earned top prizes in the San Francisco International Innovative Music Competition (2020), North California Young Talents Music Competition (2020), US International Open Music Competition (2021), and ENKOR Competition (2023, 2024). Additionally, he has participated in both CODA Honors Orchestras (2022) and CODA All State Orchestras (2023).
James is passionate about serving the community through music. He has played at local senior centers and served as the treasurer for Music for America. He has also mentored cello students online since 2020 and served as the outreach officer of Melody Connects. Both are nonprofit organizations.
