Sophie Choi is a junior at Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, California. She started playing cello in 4th grade and is currently taught by Alexandru Dumitrache. She has previously won prizes from American Protege International Competition, Golden Classical International Music Competition, US Open Music Competition, and has performed at local festivals in the Bay Area in chamber ensembles and solo. Additionally, Sophie volunteers at her local hospital, where she plays the cello for patients in the hospital lobby, and teaches children at her local music studio. In her free time, she likes traveling, hanging out with friends, and eating good food.
