Emily Dong, age 14, is from Los Altos, California. She currently studies piano with Sandra Wright Shen, Piano Chair at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music pre-college division, and French Concert Pianist Matthieu Cognet.
Emily has won top prizes at venues such as the Opus Music Competition (State Level - California), US International Music Competition, Bay Area Global Music Competition, Great Composers Competition, US International Open Music Competition, and the US Open Music Competition. She participated in the 2024 Rushmore Music Festival as a young artist fellow and won first prize at the festival concerto competition. At 2023 Masterworks Festival, she won the Honorable Mention in the Raymond Solo Competition as the youngest contestant. She also enjoyed chamber music through the 2024 Sun Valley Music Festival Advanced Chamber Program.
As a young pianist, Emily has performed in masterclasses for Stephen Hough, Alexander Kobrin, Sean Kennard, Melinda Lee Masur, Taylor Eigsti, and Philip Setzer of the Emerson String Quartet. She also had the honor to play Chopin for Madam Ruth Slenczynska.
Besides music, Emily loves playing badminton and visiting new places.
