Kai Zavislak | 2nd prize | Piano | 12th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


 Kai Zavislak, a 4th grader at BASIS, started learning piano at 4 and currently studies with Dr. Xing Chen. He has also taken lessons from Dr. Steven Spooner, John McCarthy, Nagisa Ariza, and Lena Grozman. He passed RCM level 8 piano with Distinction and has won first prizes at several competitions, such as Pacific Musical Society & Foundation, American Soloist International Music Competition, Bach International Music Competition, Elevato Stanza Junior Piano Competition, Great Composers Competition - Best Mozart and Beethoven Performances, Colors of Chopin International Piano Competition, King’s Peak International Music Competition, Piano Competition Online, and US International Open Music Competition. He also received awards from 32nd International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth, Szafarnia (3rd place), International New Star Competition (2nd place), KAMSA, US Open Music Competition, and was invited to perform for the Junior Bach Festival and upcoming Chicago International Music Competition and Festival as well as Tianjin Juilliard Piano Festival. He cherishes the experience of playing with other musicians, e.g. playing Kinder Trio by Klengel with a cellist and a violinist from Juilliard. In addition to piano, Kai enjoys voice, ballet, drama, arts, STEM, and programming.
