Lucas Wang, 16, started playing violin at age 6 with Sue Mann, and now studies with Berlin-based violinist Iskandar Widjaja. He also attends the pre-college program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under Chen Zhao. Lucas played as a first violinist with the Stanford Philharmonia, California Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra, and Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra. He debuted internationally as a soloist with the String Orchestra of Surabaya in 2024. He was selected to participate in the Aspen Music Festival in 2023 and 2025, the Tanglewood Music Festival in 2024, and Young Chamber Musicians in fall 2025. Lucas has been awarded many prizes. As a top prize winner, he was invited for solo performances at Carnegie Hall multiple times and a solo recital at Barbro Osher Recital Hall at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Outside of music, Lucas is a competitive water polo player and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
