Peter Parra, fourteen, is a freshman at Mountain View High School in California. He studies piano with Professor Corey McVicar at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) Pre-College. Peter is a Young Scholar of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation.
Starting his piano journey at four, Peter has won numerous competitions. He has earned First Place in CAPMT State Final, US Open, Elevato International, and Marilyn Mindell Piano Competitions, and Second Place at the Chicago International, Music International Grand Prix, USIMC, ENKOR International, KAMSA, and Burlingame Music Club Competitions. Additional accolades include top prizes in MTNA California, Aloha, Ross McKee Foundation, Pacific Music Society, and LA International Liszt Competitions.
Peter has been awarded full scholarships to prestigious programs including the Aspen Music Festival (2024, 2025), Music@Menlo Young Performers Program (2025), Musikfestspiele Saar in Germany (2025), Frost Chopin Academy (2024), Cleveland Piano Institute (2023, 2025), and Lang Lang Young Scholars Summer Academy at Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing (2025). He was recently appointed as a 2025-26 Culture Ambassador of the Great Wall of China.
Dedicated to community service, Peter regularly presents outreach concerts. In 2024-25, he performed solo piano and chamber concerts at the Family House of San Francisco for children fighting cancer. His 2023 Elm Court Concert was broadcast on WQED-FM. In 2025, Peter founded and currently directs the Mountain View–Los Altos Region of the Back to Back Project, leading performances that use music to educate, inspire, and heal.
Beyond piano, Peter is a nationally ranked competitive junior ballroom dancer, a math and science enthusiast, and fluent in Chinese.
