Sarah Mayfield, 15, is a sophomore at Millburn High School in New Jersey. She began piano at age five and violin at seven. Sarah served as the First Chair of the Second Violins in the Millburn High School Symphony Orchestra and is now a First Violinist in the school’s top chamber ensemble. She is also a member of the top ensemble of the New Jersey Youth Symphony, which will tour Finland and the Baltic region in 2026. Sarah has received top awards from the American Allegro Fine Arts Association in both violin and piano. She performs regularly in community service concerts at nursing homes, a school for children with special needs, and local events. She volunteers with Keys 2 Success in Newark, New Jersey, participating in fundraising charity concerts supporting music education for low-income children. She has also collaborated with professional musicians from the New Jersey Symphony in charity performances for underserved youth.
Sarah Jia, a 15-year-old sophomore at Millburn High School in New Jersey, is a dedicated classical pianist. Since the age of five she has been studying piano, building a strong foundation in technique and interpretation. She is also a skilled composer, using her prowess to branch out to other genres of music. This includes jazz; after starting the saxophone two years ago, she is now a member of her school’s selected jazz band. Beyond that, Sarah also performs the piano at community service concerts such as in senior homes, hoping her music can reach and move those who need it. Music is an integral piece of her life, and it is a way for her to connect with the world around her. In the future she hopes to continue to grow as a musician.
