
Connor Shim, 17, is a junior at Canyon High School. He began studying piano at age five and started the oboe at age nine with Eundo Lee. He has since studied with Ted Sugata of the Pacific Symphony and, beginning last year, with Ryan Roberts, Principal of the LA Philharmonic. He has also participated in masterclasses with Elaine Douvas of The Juilliard School.
Connor serves as principal oboist of the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra (2023–2025) and participated in the Montecito International Summer Festival (2024) and the All-State California Orchestra (Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band). He is also a member of Smile Train OC (2023–2026).

Musical Arts Competition; First Prize, Charleston International Baroque Competition (2022); First Prize & Special Prize, Virtuoso Vienna International Music Competition (2023); Semifinalist, Osaka International Junior Music Competition (2024); First Prize, American Protégé International Woodwinds & Brass Competition (2025); Winner, WMF David Weiss Concerto Competition (2026); Grand Finalist, LA Music Center Spotlight Classical Instrumental Competition (2026).
