Aya is a piano student at the Punahou Music School under the instruction of Mr. Steven Casano. At ten years of age, Aya entered her first piano competition, the 2019 Steinway Junior Piano Competition, where she received 1st Prize in her age category. Aya has received multiple 1st Prize wins in the global online Great Composers Competition (Best Chopin Performance, Best Bach Performance, Rising Talents of the World, and Artist of the Year in 2022). In August 2021, and 2022 she received 1st Prize in Osaka International Music Competition (Hawai’i Regional Round) and the Hawaii Music Teacher’s Association Music Competition. Her most recent win was in the American Virtuoso Online Competition, where she won 1st prize in the Baroque Category and will culminate in a winners performance in Carnegie Hall this coming November. In her free time, Aya enjoys violin, Tap, Hula, singing and golf.
