12-year-old Peter Parra is a 7th grader from Mountain View, California. He studies with Professor Erna Gulabyan at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) Pre-College. Peter is one of twelve 2022-2024 Young Scholars of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation (LLIMF).
Peter started his piano journey at four and was humbled to win many top prizes at competitions. His recent achievements include 1st Place in the State Final of 2023 CAPMT Honors Competition, 1st Place and Best Chopin in 2023 Elevato Stanza Piano Competition, 2nd Place in the Final of 2023 Music International Grand Prix, Winner of 2023 Pacific Music Society and Foundation Competition, Concert Award in 2023 Junior Bach Festival, 1st Place in 2022 USOMC Showcase Concerto Competition, 2nd Place in 2022 ENKOR International Music Competition, and Junior-Division Winner at 2022 Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition. In 2022, Peter was invited to perform in Segerstrom Center, CA and Cipriani-25, NYC, as an LLIMF Young Scholar. Peter has been recognized for his artistry, music sensitivity and unique energy in his piano performance.
At the SFCM Pre-College, Peter studies composition and attends chamber music programs. He enjoys writing original pieces and working with other young musicians. Growing up in a very musical and multi-cultural family, Peter loves Mariachi music which connects him with his Hispanic root and Mexican heritage. He also has a keen interest in traditional Chinese instruments influenced by his mother’s Chinese family and culture.
Besides piano and music, Peter loves Dance Sport and Math Olympiads. He is a competitive Junior Latin Ballroom dancer and a top 10 in US National Championship. Peter is an active member of his middle school’s Math Olympiad team with honors in AMC8 and MathCount. In his free time, Peter enjoys gaming, swimming, and traveling with his family.
