Victor Trenev is studying violin with Yulia Angelova in the National School of Music Lubomir Pipkov, Sofia.
He has won several major national and international competitions and  his name is in the Dimitar Berbatov Foundation's yearly almanac of the most talented and successful Bulgarian children for four consequent years by now.

His professional inspiration is the great violinst Leonid Kogan. He also is a big fan of Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, FC Barcelona, Karl May and Henryk Sienkiewicz.

Misha Vayman, 20, is a junior at Cleveland Institute of Music where he is a student of a concert violinist Joan Kwuon. Misha started his music studies at the age of four in St. Petersburg, Russia. His main teachers include Kurt Sassmannshaus, Zachary DePue and Mauricio Fuks.

Misha has won a number of fellowships and performed at many prestigious festivals in USA, including Music Academy of the West and Heifetz International Music Festival where he has enjoyed private studies and masterclasses with Glenn Dicterow, David and Linda Cerone, Pamela Frank, and Midori.

Misha has been a Grand Prize winner at Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and Symphony of the Lakes Orchestras Competitions.

Misha’s most recent appearance as a soloist was with St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra in the Grand Philharmonic Hall, St. Petersburg, Russia. He has also been featured as a soloist with the Starling Chamber Orchestra at Forbidden City Hall, China and Cincinnati, Ohio; Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Symphony of the Lakes Orchestras in Indiana, and Lake Charles Symphony orchestra in Louisiana. He has also appeared as a recitalist in Cleveland, Cincinnati and St. Petersburg, Russia.

For the past two seasons he has been performing with CIM Orchestra at Severance Hall.

In 2011 Misha starred in the music video “Stronger” with groundbreaking string trio Time for Three (featured on CNN in 2012).

William Hume has studied piano for over eleven years and has established himself as a recitalist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician. He has performed on the National Public Radio program “From the Top,” at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, and Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. William has received awards in the New Jersey Young Artists Piano Competition, American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, the Harold Protsman Classical Period Piano Competition, and numerous local awards and scholarships. In addition, he has received awards through the National Federation of Music Clubs, and in 2014 he was named a National YoungArts Foundation winner.

William’s orchestral performances have included Mozart, Bach, and Grieg Concerti with the Tidewater Intergenerational Orchestra, the Northern Neck Orchestra, and The Liberty Academy of the Arts Orchestra. He most recently performed the Beethoven Choral Fantasy with the Williamsburg Choral Guild and Orchestra.

For the past six years, William has attended summer programs including the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Southeastern Piano Festival, the InterHarmony International Music Festival, the Washington International Piano Festival, the Ithaca Summer Piano Institute, and several chamber music programs. He has performed in master classes with Ann Schein, Barry Snyder, Matti Raekallio, Sergei Babayan, Paul Badura-Skoda, John O’Conor, Marian Hahn, Slawomir Dobrzanski, among others.

A 2014 high school graduate, William was a member of The National Honor Society and earned a varsity letter in cross country. He also earned a Gold Key Award in the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest. Additionally, William volunteers at local nursing homes, the Salvation Army and for military functions.

William is a student of Dr. Jennifer Blyth of Dickinson College. He will attend the Aspen Music Festival and School this summer and will begin his studies at the Eastman School of Music in the fall as a piano performance major.

Jiyee Ahn was born in South Korea and lived there until July 2013. She moved to U.S.A and now attends in Lee Elementray School in Austin, Texas. She started to take violin lessons at the age of 5, and studied with Yuree Choi in South Korea. After moving to Austin, TX at the age of 9, she began studying with Dr. Brian Lewis and now with Dr. Pasha Sabouri. Jiyee had previously won 1st place for the 2012 Sung Jung Music Competition, 1st place for 2012 Seongnam City Wide Music Competition, 1st place for 2013 KUMF Music Competition, and 2nd place for the 2012 Eumyeon Violin Competition. She was the winner for the audition for the Young Artists Music Festival held by Hudson Foundation, and also the winner of the 2014 Starlight Symphony Young Artists Music Competition. She performed with the Union City Philharmonic of Hudson Foundation in New York and New Jersey in 2013 and with the Starlight Symphony Orchestra in Texas in 2014.

Violinist Haeun Kim, age thirteen, is a 7th grade student at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, Birmingham, AL. She started learning the violin when she was four years old. Currently, she is studying violin with Cornelia Heard who is a professor at Vanderbilt University, Nashville and Jenny Gregoire who is a professor of the University of Alabama. She is the recipient of Myra Jackson Blair Scholarship (full merit -based scholarship) and this prestigious scholarship is awarded by Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University.

Since age eleven, Haeun has won numerous competitions across the country. At age eleven, she earned 2nd place at the Alabama Federation of Music Clubs competition and was awarded the Young Artist of Exceptional Promise award at the 2012 Eunice Hoffmeister Competition in North Alabama. At the same year, Haeun debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York as a winner of The American Protégé International Competition. At the age of twelve, Haeun made her orchestral debut as a soloist with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans. She also received the first place for the 2012 Samuel Fordis Young Artist Concerto Competition in Georgia, and she soloed with the Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra . In the summer of 2013, she was chosen as a winner of the 2013 Interlochen Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist with the Interlochen Symphony Orchestra in Interlochen, Michigan. In January 2014, she received the second place in the Lois Pickard Music Scholarship Competition in Birmingham. Most recently, Haeun placed first in Alabama Federation of Music Clubs Competition and selected as the Stillman -Kelly Competition representative from Alabama. Over the past summers, she participated in Credo, Arianna Chamber Music Festival, and Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. This summer, Haeun will be attending the 2014 Heifetz International Music Institute (six-week program) as the youngest participant and study with Grigory Kalinovsky, Ilya Kaler, and Elmar Oliveira.

Elliot Wuu has won numerous state, national and international competitions and performed across the globe. Most recently, Elliot was the winner of California State as well as the Southwest Division MTNA Competitions, and he won Second Place in the MTNA National Competition in Chicago. Other notable top prizes he received include First Prize and special award in the Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition, First Prize in Young Musician Category and Second Prize in Junior Category of the International Russian Music Piano Competition, two-time First Prize and the special Centennial Award of the Pacific Musical Society Competition, Winner of the Piano Award of the Mondavi Young Artists Competition, Winner of California CAPMT Competitions for numerous years, Winner of Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition of the Peninsula Symphony, and First Prizes in the US Open Music Competition. As winner of El Camino Youth Symphony Concerto Competition, Elliot was a featured soloist performing with the Symphony.

In the recent years, Elliot has performed in major venues in the U.S., Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, and China. His performance at the Merkin Concert Hall was aired on WQXR. He also performed at Holywell Music Room where Haydn performed before. Elliot made his solo recital debut in the Sherman Clay Steinway Young Pianist Recital. He also performed in Steinway Society Young Artist Concert, Pacific Musical Society Centennial Gala, Peninsula Symphony Family Concert, Junior Bach Festival and Old First Concert in San Francisco. He has also performed in masterclasses for Ruth Slenczynska, Dame Fanny Waterman, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Matti Raekallio, John Perry, Niel Immelman, and Yin Chengzhong.

In 2013, he was selected as one of the twelve young pianists from around the world to participate in the Inaugural Lang Lang Junior Music Camp in Munich, Germany, where he performed and worked with Lang Lang. Since 2014, Elliot is named a young scholar of Lang Lang International Music Foundation.

Peter Mugemancuro, 13, has studied piano since the age of four with Dr. Kelly Anderson. He was one of 31 pianists selected from around the world to compete in the 2012 Junior Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. He has won multiple awards including first prize in the 2014 State CAPMT Concerto Competition and the 2012 CAPMT California State Honors Auditions, first prize in the 2012 Glendale Piano Competition, and first place in the 2011 Southwestern Youth Music Festival Young Pianist Division. His orchestral debut was held with the Festival Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Francis Steiner. Peter and a group of other young pianists were featured with Lang Lang on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in October of 2012. He has performed in the Western United States and in Washington DC.

In 2005, Tiffany started her piano lessons with Dr. Jie Lu & Dr. Ning Lu. Since then, her piano skill and performance have steadily matured. Her performances in these years have captured audience’s hearts at her early age.

Tiffany received superior rating every year in the National Federation Junior Festivals. She has participated in University of Utah Summer Arts Piano Festival and Competition, and was awarded Young Elementary I Solo Performance 3rd Place in 2009 , Young Elementary II Solo Competition 1st Place in 2010 & Elementary I Solo Competition 2nd Place in 2011 & 2012. She won 1st place in 2013 SummarArts Competition. She participated 2011 UMTA Concerto Competition and received 1st Place in Elementary Piano Division. In Rebecca Marriott Champion Piano Competition, she won 1st Place in 2012 Junior Division & 3rd Place in 2013 Senior Division. In 2013 International Piano Festival, she won 2nd Place in Young Artist Division. She was selected to perform Haydn and Mozart Concerto with Symphony Orchestra many times. In 2009, she performed Haydn Concerto in C Major with SummerArts Orchestra. In 2010's Summer Arts Competition, she performed Mozart Concerto No. 11 in F Major with SummerArts Orchestra. And in 2011, she performed Mozart Concerto No. 23 in A Major with Utah Philharmonia Orchestra. She is the official competitor of the 2012 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. She won the 1st place of the 2013 MTNA Piano Competition in Utah and she was the finalist of the 2013 Seattle International Piano Competition.

Tiffany was invited to perform her solo and concerto pieces in many different places in Utah, such as Libby Gardner Hall & Rice Eccles Stadium at University of Utah, Assembly Hall in Temple Square, Vieve Gore Concert Hall at West Minister University, Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City, Utah Cultural Celebration Center, and Utah State Capitol Hill. She was selected as the 2011 – 2013 Piano Ambassador from the Mundi Project. Recently she joined several piano concerts and recitals for introducing classical piano music to the young and new audiences.

Tiffany is going to be a 8th grade student at Waterford School in Sandy, Utah. She loves to go to school everyday with her teachers and classmates. She loves reading, math, art, science, history, computer, dance and, of course, recess. She also plays violin and is a member of Waterford Chamber Orchestra. She enjoyed to perform piano every year at school’s talent show. After school, she practices piano almost everyday. She loves self-expression while bringing others enjoyment.

Sean Yongjoo Lim is in 9th grade at McLean High School. He has been playing violin since he was 8 years old. Sean is currently under the tutelage of Amy Beth Horman at the Horman Violin Studio in Washington, D.C.

Performing in large venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, John F. Kennedy Center Terrace Theater, Smithsonian National Gallery of Art, and Shakespeare Harmon Center, Sean’s first solo debut performance with orchestra was with the Kostrama Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pavel Gershtein in Russia in July of 2012. In January 2014, Sean was featured as one of the young soloists in Sarasate’s “Navarra” with the Howard County Concert Orchestra under the direction of Ronald Mutchnik. Mr.Lim played with the U.S. Army Orchestra in a concert as a featured soloist in May 2014.

Mr. Lim had a very exciting 2013-2014 competitive season as a ninth grader. Sean was awarded first prize in both the Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition as well as the James C. Macdonald Fine Arts Scholarship Competition. Sean also won awards as a finalist in The Feuer Competition, The MidAtlantic Regional Solo Competition, and The Landon Symphonette Competition and was a main prize-winner in the Advanced Category of The WPAS Feder Memorial String Competition. In addition to this, Mr. Lim had the distinction of being named a finalist in The Duquesne Young Artist National Concerto Competition.

Sean is regularly featured in master classes with renowned violinists such as Ivanov Vladmir at the Moscow Conservatory, Juilliard professor Shirley Givens, National Philharmonic Concertmaster Emeritus Jody Gatwood, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Jonathan Carney, National Symphony Orchestra Assistant Concertmaster Elizabeth Adkins, Pittsburgh Symphony violinist Roy Sonne, James Stern, Soovin Kim, and New Mexico Symphony Conductor and violinist, Guillermo Figueroa.

Sean Yongjoo Lim served as Concertmaster of the American Youth Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in 2011, and was appointed Associate Concertmaster of the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO) Philharmonic for the 2013-2014 school year. Mr. Lim was also chosen as a National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Youth Fellow in 2013. In addition to this, he remains an active member of Columbia Baptist Church Sanctuary Orchestra.

Mr. Lim has the distinct honor of having been accepted in the Meadowmount School of Music this summer where he will be studying with Jan Mark Sloman, Aarond Rosand's Intensive Violin Study Program, and NAC Young Artist Program directed by Pinchas Jukerman for 2014 Summer music studies.

YUELIN ZHONG: 2nd Prize

Yuelin Zhong, 13, has praced piano for 10 years, and is currently a student of Dr. William Goldenberg, faculty at Northern Illinois University. Yuelin has earned top honors at numerous competitions. At the age of eight, Yuelin received a Talent Scholarship at the Northern Illinois University Fine Arts Department. The same year, she won First Place in Level C in the Roberta Savler Piano Contest. At nine years old, she received outstanding recognition for Concert Level Solo and Duet at the Grandquist Memorial Music Competition. In 2012, Yuelin received First Place again, this time in Level D, in the Roberta Savler Piano Contest. Performing once more in the Grandquist Memorial Competition the same year, she received First Place in the Olympic Level. In 2013, Yuelin received honors at the American Protege International Competition of Romantic Music and performed in the winners' concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In the beginning of 2014, she made it into the finals for the Fifth Annual Emilio del Rosario Piano Concerto Competition, and received Third Place.

YURI TAGUCHI: 3rd Prize

Yuri Taguchi has won considerable awards, including American Protégé, AADGT, and American Fine Arts Festival. She has performed at Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall on numerous occasions.In 2013, Yuri participated in the AFAF Russian tour as a winner of a concerto competition and performed Mozart Concerto in d minor K.466, with Kostroma Symphony Orchestra.

Kiarra Saito-Beckman is a 10th grade part-time homeschooled student from Bend, Oregon. She studies violin with Kathryn Lucktenberg of the University of Oregon, and Jan Mark Sloman, former associate concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She has won many awards and competitions, and was a finalist of the 2014 MTNA National Solo Competition, where she competed in Chicago in March. She was also named the PepsiCo National Young Artist of the Year as a result of being the first prize winner of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra National Young Artist Competition, held in South Carolina. Kiarra has been a guest soloist with the Central Oregon Symphony twice. She has also soloed with a symphony composed of members from the Oregon Symphony and the Oregon Ballet Theater Orchestra, and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. This coming August she will be soloing with the Coeur d'Alene Symphony, upon placing second in their National Young Artist Competition. During the summer, she attends the Meadowmount School of Music in Westport, New York. She has performed in solo and chamber masterclasses with Jennifer Koh, Tong Wei-Dong, Steven Rochen, and Patricia McCarty.

Nathan Kim (14) has been studying the piano since the age of six, and currently studies with Dr. Renato Fabbro. Numerous accolades have been bestowed upon Nathan for his striking abilities as a young pianist and musician, and he has won various international, national & regional competitions, including his first at age 8.

In April 2011, he performed at the Ten Grands for Kids and Ten Grands concerts at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon as a result of winning Grand Prize in the Rose City Music Festival Young Artist Competition. Nathan also performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.17 at the Newmark Theatre as the youngest VanBuren Young Artist Debut Concerto Competition winner with an orchestra of members from the Oregon Symphony and Oregon Ballet Theatre and as a soloist with the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra at the Soreng Theatre in Eugene later that summer. Nathan is a three-time winner in the Oregon MTNA Junior Piano Competition, and was runner-up at the 2012 MTNA Northwest Division Competition.

He earned 1st Prize in the Mondavi Center National Young Artist Competition and performed at the Robert Mondavi Performing Arts Center in Davis, CA. Nathan also earned 1st Prize in the Central Oregon Symphony Young Artists Competition, the US New Star Piano Competition, and the Oregon Symphony Wiscarson Concerto Competition, and he was the Grand Prize winner of the Cascades Classical Music Foundation Competition. He won 2nd Prize in the 2013 Vancouver Symphony Young Artists Competition and was also a finalist in 2014 when the major Portland snowstorm caused a rescheduling that conflicted with a previous performance engagement in New York City.

In February 2014, Nathan achieved a personal musical goal by performing at Carnegie Hall as a result of winning Grand Prize in the American Fine Arts Festival International Concerto Competition performing Prokofieff Piano Concerto No.3 and Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No.15, and was given a scholarship to participate in their summer music course in Russia. He also was selected 1st Prize in the 2014 American Protégé International Concerto Competition and 2nd Prize in the International Piano and Strings Competition, and repeated performing at Carnegie Hall for two winner’s recitals in May.

Nathan has performed in Portland Piano International master classes with Arnaldo Cohen, Catherine Kautsky and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet to name a few along with Lara Downes. He has been featured several times on the Portland Piano Company/Sherman Clay Whiz Kids Concert series. Nathan also won 1st prize in the Cris Tapang, Suzanne D. Raines & Tom O’Brien Memorial scholarships. He was featured on All Classical 89.9FM in Portland, Oregon with the program “On Deck”.

Gregory Lewis has always had a passion for classical music, and began playing violin at the age of five. He frequently competes, receiving top awards in many Ontario provincial final competitions, including first prize in the 2010 ORMTA Provincial Student Instrumental Competition, the Esther Su Memorial Scholarship for being ‘the most promising performer in all divisions of the 2013 ORMTA Provincial Finals’, and a bronze medal in the highest category of strings performance in the OMFA Provincial Finals. Gregory has appeared as a soloist with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, and has upcoming solo performances with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the University of Manitoba Symphony Orchestra.

Having received his ARCT Diploma in Violin Performance through the Royal Conservatory of Music, Gregory now resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he is currently studying his Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance at the University of Manitoba with Dr. Oleg Pokhanovski. While in Winnipeg, Gregory has become quite involved in chamber music, as well as maintained a strong interest in orchestral music. After giving up his position as the concert master of the Thunder Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra, Gregory is now a member of the 2014 National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the University of Manitoba Symphony Orchestra, and has performed as an extra for the Winnipeg Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Her extensive musical knowledge is apparent in her performances of master works from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras, to the fresh new works of present day composers. She has performed on numerous concert stages throughout Europe (Austria, Germany, Hungary, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland, UK) and the USA. Her prodigious talent has resulted in her winning first prizes at many music competitions and playing in hundreds of recitals and concerts around the world. Since her first solo appearance with orchestra at age eight, she has gone on to solo with orchestras such as the New World Symphony in Florida, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the National Radio Orchestra of Romania, the Philharmonisches Orchester Budweis, the Philharmonie Salzburg, the Neues Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Starling Chamber Orchestra Cincinnati, and the Old York Road Symphony in Pennsylvania, among others. She regularly performs at prestigious music festivals and master courses worldwide, and works on an extensive and broad repertoire with the most renowned music pedagogues.

Miranda Liu began early musical studies with her pianist mother and subsequently received her first violin lessons at age four. At ten, she began studying with Prof. Paul Roczek at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg where she was a member of the Leopold Mozart Institute. At 14, she officially commenced the Bachelor of Arts Degree Program (Violin Performance) at the Mozarteum. Additionally, since 2011, she began working privately with Prof. Eszter Perényi in Budapest and at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music as a scholarship holder in the Erasmus Exchange Programme. She currently divides her time between Europe and the USA.

Miranda performs on a rare violin made by Nicoló Amati in Cremona, c. 1676, and a violin made especially for her in 2014 by Samuel Zygmuntowicz in New York.

Jacob Dame, 18, began piano studies at age nine and currently studies with Dr. Ralph Van der Beek and Dr. Yu-Jane Yang. He has also played the viola since age nine. His dream careers in music are to become a conductor and/or film score composer. Some awards he has received include 1st Place in the UMTA Concerto Competition and 1st Place in the Salt Lake Piano Competition, among numerous other awards at competitions and elsewhere. He recently conducted the Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra in two public performances as a result of winning their Aspiring Musicians Competition (for conducting). He also recently played the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor with the Weber State University Symphony Orchestra. He has played in masterclasses for Stephen Hough and Pascal Roge, and has had lessons with Lydia Artymiw, Norman Krieger, and Jean Barr. During the summer, he has attended two years at the Foulger International Music Festival and one year at SummerFest at Brigham Young University. He is currently a sophomore at Weber State University, and is from Draper, UT. Some of his greatest passions in music include collaboration in chamber music or accompanying, and teaching. He also loves to study music history, music literature, and composers, of which his favorites are Brahms, Prokofiev and Mozart (or just anything Russian), but he likes all types of music.

Olivia Chen is a twelve year-old violinist and seventh grader at Cabin John Middle School. Olivia began violin lessons a week after she turned four years old, moving through Suzuki books 1-6 in her first two years under the tutelage of Joyce Durfee in Houston, Texas. She then commenced studies with Henry Rubin and became a young member of the Houston Youth Orchestra. At the age of seven, Olivia and her family moved to Howard County near Baltimore. There she continued her studies with Herbert Greenberg at the Peabody Conservatory. After moving to Montgomery County, Olivia continued lessons with violinist and teacher, Emil Chudnovsky for a year and a half. In the Fall of 2013, Olivia began studies at the Horman Violin Studio in Washington, D.C. with violinist and teacher, Amy Beth Horman.

This year Olivia was featured in master classes with Baltimore Symphony Concertmaster Jonathan Carney, Olivia Hajioff, Marc Ramirez, James Stern, and New Mexico Symphony Conductor and violinist Guillermo Figueroa. This June She represented the studio in an exclusive class with Juilliard Professor, Shirley Givens in New York City.

Olivia was given the distinct honor of being the Associate Concert Master of the Chamber Ensemble for the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras (MCYO) this year. She has been selected to perform on the Music Friends Concerts at the Alden in 2014-2015. Olivia is also a prize winner in the American Protégé International Concerto Competition and will be featured in a concert at Carnegie in the Fall of 2014.

Shankar Balasubramanian is a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology. He has been playing violin since he was 5 years old. He is currently under the tutelage of Amy Beth Horman at the Horman Violin Studio in Washington DC.

Shankar has received numerous awards at regional and state levels including the following: American Fine Arts Festival (AFAF) International Romantic Era Competition, AFAF International Concerto Competition ,Virginia State Concerto Competition, Gretchen Hood Memorial Competition , Washington Performing Arts Society (WPAS) Goldie Feder Memorial String Competition, Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association’s Concerto competition , Caurine Easterling String Scholarship competition, Maryland State Music Teachers Association, Rockville Competition for Piano and Strings (1st place).

Shankar has performed at Carnegie Hall, WPAS Board of Directors’ Annual Meeting and WPAS Music in the Country program. He also performed as a soloist for Reston Community Orchestra. Shankar has recently been accepted into the Friday Morning Music Club (FMMC) in the category of solo violinist.

Shankar’s solo appearances for the 2013-2014 season include a performance at the Alden Theatre in McLean VA as well as a live TV performance at the Fairfax County Board Meeting. He also performed in master classes with National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Assistant Concertmaster, Ricardo Cyncynates, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) Concertmaster, Jonathan Carney, violinist James Stern, and National Philharmonic Orchestra Emeritus, Jody Gatwood.

Shankar was recently awarded 1st prize in the Feuer Memorial String Competition, sponsored by the Fairfax Symphony. He has the distinct privilege of having been selected as a Finalist in the Duquesne Young Artist National Concerto Competition and Army Orchestra Young Artists Competition. He also received an Honorable Mention as a Finalist in the MidAtlantic Regional Solo Competition. He was selected as a First place winner of Misbin Family Memorial Award by Washington Performing Arts Society.

Melody Jiang, 10, attends Sunnyside Elementary School in Olathe, KS, is currently studying piano under Ying-Yu Emily Yeh’s instruction. Melody has participated in many auditions and competitions and received numerous awards. Melody was name the second place winner in Kansas State Honors Competition in 2013 and Honorable Mention in 2011 and 2012. In 2011 and 2012, Melody performed in the Fall Festival held by Kansas City Music Teachers Association and received Highest Honors rating. She was also a Piano Guild Audition National Winner is 2014. In January 2014, Melody was invited to perform for Kansas Winners Recital, hosted by Kansas City Chinese-American Association. Melody is also a violinist. Besides music, Melody loves to dance, swim, run, draw and write.

Vivian Xu, 15, is an upcoming sophomore at East Brunswick High School in East Brunswick, New Jersey and currently studies piano with Professor Ingrid Clarfield at Westminster Choir College of Rider University. Vivian has won numerous top awards including first place in the New Jersey Music Teachers Association Young Musicians Competition, alternate winner of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Performance Competition’s Junior Division, and first prize for the Associated Music Teachers League Scholarship. In fact, she has been honored at the New Jersey Music Teachers Association Spring Audition Recitals for nine years now. Vivian most recently received the gold prize of the Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey for scoring the highest in all three competition divisions. As a result of winning the Cecilian Young Artist Competition and Golden Key Festival multiple times since she was six years old, Vivian performed as a soloist in many prestigious halls including Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center and Weill Recital Hall and Zankel Hall of Carnegie Hall. Vivian was also the third place winner of the Distinguished Artist Competition of Shore Music Educators Association. In addition, she won the silver prize for the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra Young Artists Concerto Competition and was a prize winner in the Steinway Society Scholarship Competition and Piano Teachers Congress Honors Program. Being one of the five Elmer and Louise Menges Scholarship Recipients, Vivian made her orchestral solo debut performance with the Ambler Symphony in February of 2013. Additionally, she has received the gold prize for the East Brunswick Solo and Ensemble Festival and been selected to perform in the East Brunswick Young Musicians Honors Concert, which is aired on EBTV, for the past four years. Vivian received distinction in the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music Examinations (Grade 8) as well. During the summers of 2012 and 2013, Vivian studied piano at the International Institute for Young Musicians (IIYM) and worked with renowned pianists including Steven Spooner and Dr. Jack Winerock. As a result of being selected as a winner of the New Jersey State Conference Master Class, Vivian also worked with distinguished pianist, Dr. Barry J. Snyder.

Vivian is also an avid flutist and was a member of the 2012 and 2013 Central Jersey Intermediate Regional Band. Most recently, at the 2014 Central Jersey Music Educators Association Region II Concert Band Festival, Vivian received the “Outstanding Musicianship” award for her flute solo.

In her spare time, Vivian enjoys listening to music, playing tennis, and hanging out with her friends.

Andrew Kirjner is a sophomore at the Manhattan School of Music: Pre-College Division, where he is currently the concertmaster of the Pre-College Symphony Orchestra and is in the studio of pedagogue Elizabeth Faidley. Andrew was the gold winner of the Young Maestro Competition in 2012, the second prize winner in the 2012 Alexander and Buono International String Competition, a Finalist in the 2013 Forte International Music Competition and was the 2013 First Prize winner of the New York Concerti Sinfonietta Shining Stars Debut Series~Pre-college Division, where performed Lalo Symphonie Espagnol, Op.21, 1st Movt. with the New York Concerti Sinfonietta. He was also the winner of the Young Bronx Artist Contest, and he will perform the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, 1st mvmt. in the fall of 2014 Andrew has performed at the Manhattan School of Music's Borden Auditorium and Greenfield Hall, the WMP Concert Hall, Merkin Recital Hall, and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Andrew's former teachers include Li Lin in San Francisco and Allison Apley in England. Andrew has appeared in masterclass with Reuben Blundell, Tao Chang Yu, and Katie Lansdale. When he is not practicing, Andrew enjoys reading and playing basketball.

Jackie Wong was born in Melbourne, Australia in 2001. She is thirteen years old and she is currently studying at Melbourne Girls Grammar School.

Jackie began her musical training at the age of five, learning the piano at school, and six months later she began studying the violin with an inspirational teacher, Helge Thelen. Five years later, she continued her violin studies with Elizabeth Sellars. Since 2012, Jackie has been taking lessons from Ivana Tomášková.

Jackie regularly performs at concerts, festivals and eisteddfods. Apart from solo performances, she also played as orchestra member at Melbourne Youth Music (Summer School) and has participated in chamber music group.

In 2012, Jackie recorded her entry to the 47th International Radio Competition for Young Musicians “Concertino Praga 2013”, at the Iwaki Auditorium in Melbourne. ABC classic FM producers and engineers supervised her recording to meet the strict competition rules. The ABC radio station director for Melbourne, Victoria certified it. Jackie received a special prize from the international jury panel for the “youngest candidate” and a separate web-page presentation on the Concertino Praga 2013 website.

In 2014, Jackie is the First Place Winner (Junior Category) of the American Protégé International Piano & Strings Competition 2014. She performed at the Winners’ Recital on Sunday, April 20th 2014 at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Jihyang (Jane) is presently a Grade 10 student at Gladstone High School, and has studied with Dr. Kyung Kim of Brandon University’s School of Music for the past two years. She has been a consistent top prize winner in both the Gladstone and Brandon Music Festivals, placing first in numerous categories, and was awarded the H.E. Phipps Trophy (top Grade 9 pianist) at the Brandon Festival of the Arts this year. She also placed first in the Intermediate Canadian Composers class at the 2013 Manitoba Provincial Music and Speech Arts festival.

She has performed actively throughout Southwestern Manitoba, and performed at both the 2013 and 2014 “Rising Stars” concert as part of Mayfest in Neepawa, MB. Jane also serves as choir accompanist at Knox Presbyterian Chruch in Neepawa, MB
